How to calculate peak-to-peak distance?

Hi,

I was wondering how to calculate the peak-to-peak distance on a rough surface with irregular patterns.

As you know all the roughness parameters concern the z-axis, but what I am looking for is a parameter that measures through the x (or y) axis.

You can use the Dimension analysis mode to measure distance. When viewing an image, after clicking Dimension on the Analysis ribbon, click Add Line in the measurement results pane and drag the endpoints of the line to position them at the start and end of the distance you wish to measure. The length of the line is continuously updated in the measurement results pane.
